Myrrh has been prevalent throughout history. It was used in the mummification process by the Egyptians. It has been used in religious rituals all over the world, and is the cornerstone of the birth of Baby Jesus (see Frankincense).
A 2010 study in the journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology found that myrrh could protect against liver damage due to its high antioxidant capacity. Although this particular study was conducted with rabbits, there is some potential for uses in humans also, as like rabbits, humans love carrots.
For the purpose of relaxation, myrrh is also quite popular and is used in massages or added to warm baths.
Myrrh has a thick, resinous consistency so it is imperative that you run it under warm water to be able to get it out of the bottle.
